Anitra and Frans talked with the Geelong U3A politics class on LIfe Without Money. Their ideas stimulated a lot of discussion amongst the 20 or so participants, led by Bruce Murray. Anitra talked on 'On collective sufficiency' in the Regenerating Prosperity stream of the Regenerating... People, Place, Prosperity and Preparedness workshop at Kinglake Ranges (Victoria) — organised by the Kinglake Ranges Community Resilience Coalition. It was free to participate. 20 to 21 July 2012, Friday and Saturday

Money or socialism? panel with Frans Timmerman on 'Work and Money' and Anitra Nelson on 'Use Values and Money' on the Friday of the two-day Australasian Historical Materialism conference in Sydney, Australia. This session, in which around 30 people participated, was chaired by Humphrey McQueen. The talks focused on leftist controversies surrounding key points in the first four chapters of Life Without Money: i.e. the revolutionary significance of consciously thinking and acting on the basis of use values rather than exchange values; problems caused by retaining money in a transition to socialism; the revolutionary potential of an autonomist Marxist position of refusing to work; and, acknowledging money as a tool of power (rather than efficiency) and organising principle of capitalism. There were great discussions after the talks about the role of money in any transition to socialism, anarchist currents and contemporary experiments in alternative, community-based, currencies.

A short talk — in English but translated into Castellano/Catalan — then a bi/tri-lingual discussion on key themes in Life Without Money presented by the book's co-editor, Anitra Nelson, interpreted by Carolina Zerpa. The book's ten contributors argue that non-monetary systems of mutuality are essential to create socially just and environmentally-friendly practices. The book presents practical and strategic ways to construct a world without money. This Trade School Barcelona workshop with 10 participants explored these ideas.

In exchange, participants side of the barter is to come along with 4 lists of:
1. 5 things you have available or services you can offer
2. 5 things or services you would like in return
3. 3 questions you have about a world without money
4. 3 to 5 examples of things you have done within the last week for free, but other people get paid for when they do them.
